brand newby. tom robbins is definately the contemporary quintessential american literary philosopher of highest distinction. sure, he speaks of us all to us all, regardless of which way our toilette water whirls, but i think it's truly american how he captures migration, interconnectivity and sex, even if the majority of his characters are angelic anti-cowboys, which we all know is the minority of the minority of so-called free-thinkers (disenfranchised seems irrelevant) in this country. how many "get it!" because of how he writes and not what he writes? but that's not my real question.
is oprah, who could be the next messianic (sp?) figure history might digest for future burps of divitiy, more revelational than the words and plots of tom's thoughts. do we need new cars for a fraction of oprah's viewing audience, or do we need a fraction of tom's readers who embrace his world view, in order to make the world a better place? the question has been posed. it's out of my hands.

Actually, Tom definitely pushed me into 'getting it', and for that, I am eternally grateful.
